Wikipedia 30 October 2015 (Henry Stebbing FRS (1799-1883) was an English cleric and man of letters, known as a poet, preacher, and historian. He was born at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on 26 August 1799. He worked as a literary editor, of books and periodicals. He was awarded D.D. in 1839 and elected F.R.S. on 3 April 1845. Stebbing was connected with the Athenŭm magazine from its foundation in 1828, and was owner and editor of the short-lived Christian Enquirer and the Literary Companion in 1848.
