Wikipedia 20 August 2021: (David Syme (2 October 1827 – 14 February 1908) was a Scottish-Australian newspaper proprietor of The Age and regarded as "the father of protection in Australia" who had immense influence in the Government of Victoria. He arrived in Victoria in 1852; in 1856 he joined his brother Ebenezer in acquiring The Age, becoming sole proprietor when Ebenezer died in 1860. After nearly a decade of struggling, the paper built up its influence and notably promoted the position of protectionism. During some years of his ownership, Syme had great difficulty finding competent editors, and himself acted as editor. He died at home in Kew on 14 February 1908.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Syme
