He migrated to Sydney about 1884 as a plasterer, and bought land for development, especially in Drummoyne. He was an alderman for Drummoyne 1898-1934, and was elected to the N.S.W. parliament in 1904, continuing until 1935. He was litigious, active in conservative causes, and anti-Catholic.
