Australian Dictionary of Biography (online) 1 December 2021: (Frederick Ehrenfried (Eric) Baume (1900-1967), journalist, author and broadcaster, was born on 29 May 1900 at Auckland, New Zealand. He began work as a cub journalist in New Zealand, later an editor; in 1923 he moved to Sydney, Australia. He was an addictive gambler all his life. From 1932 he wrote thirteen books and began radio broadcasting. From 1939 to 1949 he lived in London as a correspondent, and visited Europe during the war.
