From 27 March - mid-April direct cataloguing to the ANBD will be unavailable. The Trove Partners Cataloguing tool will be released in mid-April. Australian Dictionary of Biography (online) 19 September 2020: (John Henry (Macartney) Abbott (1874-1953), author, was born on 26 December 1874 at Haydonton [Murrurundi], New South Wales. he was educated in Parramatta and Sydney, and his first contribution to The Bulletin was published in 1897. After service in the South African war, he turned to writing in London; by 1909 he was back in Sydney, writing popular and historical works.
