Dictionary of New Zealand Biography (online) 8 March 2020: (Rees, Alexander Wyclif 1908-1979. Born in Ponsonby, Auckland, 7 March 1908. He worked for his uncle A.H. Reed in Dunedin and joined the firm to venture into publishing. the publishing firm formally beginning in 1932, using the imprint A.H. & A.W. Reed from 1935. He was the author of more than 200 books, many on Maori topics. An Australian subsidiary opened in 1964. He retired in 1971. He was a lifetime Methodist.
