ADB online 6 Sep. 2014 (Chisholm, Caroline (1808-1877), philanthropist, was born near Northampton, England; she married Captain Archibald Chisholm of the East India Co., and accompanied him on his posting to Madras. In 1838 she arrived in Sydney, where she remained when her husband was recalled to India in 1840, engaged in philanthropic work especially assisting immigrant girls. She and her husband continued philanthropic work with migrants, in New South Wales and later in Victoria, with periods in England, where they returned in June, 1866, until her death on 25 March 1877.)
