Da Faur was born in England in 1832 (christened Frederick Eccleston Dafaur) and travelled to Australia in the early 1850s. Da Faur 'practically originated' the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park after petitioning for a Northern Sydney National Park throughout the late 1800s. He served as chief draftsman for the Lands Department before resigning in 1881 and was an original trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Source: Johns Notable Australians, 1906.
