  • Wikipedia, March 28, 2019 (Robert Plumer Ward; Robert Ward or from 1828 Robert Plumer Ward (19 March 1765 - 13 August 1846), was an English barrister, politician, and novelist; born in Mount Street, Mayfair, London; married for a second time in 1828 to Jane Plumer, the widow and heiress of William Plumer (1736-1822), adopted the additional name of Plumer and took up residence at Gilston Park, Hertfordshire, which his wife had inherited from her late husband; married for a third time in 1833 to Mary, the daughter of General Sir George Anson. Early in 1846 he moved with his wife to the official residence of her father, who was the governor of Chelsea Hospital, and died there on 13 August the same year)
  • Oxford dictionary of national biography, via WWW, March 28, 2019 (Ward, Robert Plumer (1765-1846); politician and writer, was born in Mount Street, Mayfair, on 19 March 1765, the sixth son and eighth child of John Ward (d. 1791), a merchant resident in Gibraltar and chief clerk of the civil department in the garrison, and his wife, Rebecca Raphael (1732-1768), who was descended from a Genoese Jewish family settled in Spain; on 2 April 1796 married Catherine Julia Maling (1772-1821) of West Herrington, co. Durham; wife died on 28 December 1821; produced his first novel, Tremaine, or, The Man of Refinement (1825), published anonymously by Colburn; on 16 July 1828 married the wealthy widow Jane Lewin, née Hamilton (1768-1831), a granddaughter of the seventh earl of Abercorn. Her first husband had been William Plumer (d. 1822), and her second husband Richard John Lewin RN (d. 1827). Subsequent to the marriage settlement, Ward assumed the additional name and arms of Plumer; she died on 26 March 1831; on 14 February 1833 married his third wife, Mary-Anne Okeover (1803-1875), daughter of the Hon. Sir George Anson GCB, and widow of the Revd Charles Gregory Okeover; early in 1846, Ward, now in his eighty-first year, and his wife joined her father Lieutenant-General Sir George Anson at his official residence in Chelsea Hospital.
