The name of the National Capital Park Commission (established in 1924) was changed in 1926 to the National Capital Park and Planning Commission, which was the successor to the Highway Commission of the District of Columbia (established in 1893). In 1952 the National Capital Park and Planning Commission was replaced by the National Capital Planning Commission. Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication.
