From 2001 to 2013, he was the Archbishop of Sydney and Metropolitan of the Province of New South Wales in the Anglican Church of Australia. He was born in Sydney. He was a lecturer at Moore Theological College 1973-1976 and 1980-1984, and Principal 1985-2001.
