Wikipedia, February 26, 2022: Alma Ida Willibalde Maximiliana Karlin (12 October 1889 – 15 January 1950) was a Slovenian traveler, writer, poet, collector, polyglot and theosophist. She was born in the Styrian town of Celje (now part of Slovenia) in what was then the Austro-Hungarian Empire. She regarded herself chiefly as Austrian rather than ethnic German or Slovene. After completing her secondary education in Graz, she traveled to London, where she studied languages. In 1914 she moved from London to Scandinavia. In 1919, she returned home, to Celje, then in Yugoslavia, and worked as a teacher to raise money for her travels around the world; she returned home in 1928. She wrote many articles for magazines and newspapers; some writings were published in German, others in Slovenian; many other writings have not yet been published.
