In 1941 the Bureau of Mines, the Geological Survey, the State Geological and Economic Survey Advisory Commission, the Water Front Commission, and the Water Resources Commission (created in 1933) were merged to form the Dept. of Geology, Mines and Water Resources. The latter was superseded in 1964 by two bodies: the reestablished Geological Survey, and the newly created Dept. of Water Resources. Works by these bodies are found under the name used at the time of publication.
