Brill's new Pauly online, 26 September 2013 (Iamblichus; ̓Ιάμβλιχος; Neoplatonist philosopher; probably lived between AD 240 and 325 and died at the age of 85; born in Chalcis in the province of Syria Coele (probably Chalcis ad Belum, modern Qinnasrīn). His name is a transliteration of the Syrian or Aramaic ya-mliku, 'he is king' or 'may he be king')
