Felix Paul Greve was born on February 14, 1879. Greve shows up in the Prairie Province of Manitoba, Canada, as Frederick Philip Grove in September 1912. In 1904-05, Greve published an accomplished, Petrarchan poetry cycle with his lover Else Endell, under the joint pseudonym Fanny Essler in Die Freistatt.
