  • Life in Victoria or Victoria in 1853, and Victoria in 1858, 1859: t.p. (William Kelly, Esq., author of "Across the Rocky Mountains, Great Salt Lake Valley, and Great Sierra Nevada," and "A stroll through the diggings of California.")
  • Australian Dictionary of Biography (online) 9 April 2021: (William Kelly (1813?-1872), author and barrister, was born in Camphill, Sligo, Ireland. He worked and was a magistrate in Sligo County, until departing on 20 January 1849 for America. His account of crossing overland to California was published in 1851. He decided to follow the goldrush to Port Phillip, and arrived in Melbourne on 30 April 1854. His efforts were not particularly successful, but his accounts of Victorian life and his own doings, "Life in Victoria or Victoria in 1853, and Victoria in 1858" (London, 1859) is interesting and entertaining. He left Melbourne in December 1857 for the British Columbia goldrush; his unpublished account of his life there was apparently never completed. In 1962 he married a Belgian widow, Marguerite Sidonie Mertens, née Durart (1833-1867), at Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, where he mostly resided until his death there on 4 March 1872.) https://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/kelly-william-3936
