Wikipedia 23 Feb 2025: (Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant (born Margaret Oliphant Wilson; 4 April 1828 - 20 June 1897) was a Scottish novelist and historical writer, who usually wrote as Mrs. Oliphant. Her fictional works cover "domestic realism, the historical novel and tales of the supernatural". She was born in Wallyford, East Lothian, Scotland; she was a writer from her early years. She married a cousin, a stained-glass artist, in 1852 and settled in London; he died in 1859 when in Italy for support his health, and she then depended on her writing to support herself and her children.
