The South Australian Acclimatisation Society was formed in 1878. It changed its name in 1880/1 to South Australian Acclimatisation and Zoological Society which changed in 1881/2 to South Australian Zoological and Acclimatization Society. This changed in 1936/37 to Royal Zoological Society of South Australia. From 2008 the Society began to use the trading name Zoos SA or Zoos South Australia on some of its publications and news releases, etc., though officially remaining the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia. Works by this body are entered under the official name used at the time of publication.
