Australian Dictionary of Biography (online) 12 June 2021: (Frances (Fanny) Perry (1814-1892), community worker, was born Frances Cooper on 16 June 1814 in Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire, England. She married Charles Perry, curate of Newtown, Cambridge, in 1841. In 1847 he was appointed bishop of the new see of Melbourne, where they arrived on 23 January 1848. From 1856 she became specially involved in establishing and leading the Melbourne Lying-In Hospital (later Royal Women's Hospital, and other fields of women's welfare.
