  • Australian Dictionary of Biography (online) 14 January 2020: (Edward Micklethwaite Curr (1820-1889), squatter and author, was born on 25 December 1820 in Hobart Town, Van Diemen's Land. he was educated at Stonyhurst College, Lancashire from december 1829 to August 1837, then in France, returning to Australia in 1839. From 1840 to 1850 he managed his father's run at Heathcote, Victoria and neighbouring districts, and developed a keen. sympathetic interest in the lives of the Aboriginals. From 1851 to 1854 he was in England; when he returned to Victoria, he found it much changed by the gold rushes. He was in New Zealand, Queensland and New South Wales. he settled back in Victoria in 1862 and became inspector of sheep and cattle; he lived in St. KIilda, wrote many reports, and compiled his valuable The Australian Race (4 volumes), the quality of which depends on the work of his assistants. he died on 3 August 1889 in St. Kilda, and is buried in the Catholic section of the St. KIilda cemetery.) http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/curr-edward-micklethwaite-3301
