  • Wikipedia 11 October 2022: (Francis Ian Andersen was born in Warwick, Queensland, Australia. He received his B.Sc. from the University of Queensland in chemistry, in 1947, then worked at the University of Melbourne (M.Sc. 1951, B.A. in Russian 1955), then began work in biblical studies at Ridley College; he went to Johns Hopkins University (PhD 1960) and returned to Ridley as vice-principal. In 1963 he went to the United States, in 1973 to New Zealand, and in 1974-1975 held an exchange post at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; in 1975 he was appoined Associate Professor of History at Macquarie University, then in 1981 he became Professor of Studies in Religion at the University of Queensland. In 1988 he went to California to teach, and in 1994-1997 was a professor at Fuller Theological Seminary, afterwards returning to Melbourne, where he died on 13 May 2020. His major work was in several areas: Old Testament, computer-assisted Hebrew linguistics and Old Testament Hebrew vocabulary, and Old Church Slavonic pseudepigrapha.
