What is Personalisation?

Currently many existing Libraries Australia User-IDs for Libraries Australia are 'shared accounts' which means that any default settings apply to everyone using that account. Libraries Australia now has the functionality to allow anyone using a shared account to create their own personal login.

Activating Personalisation

Libraries who wish to activate personalisation and allow their organisation/patrons to create personal logins should provide the Help Desk with the following information in writing:

Once an account has been setup to allow the creation of personal logins, anyone logging into the 'shared account' will see an option to 'create a personal account.' Selecting this option will enable the user to create their own login for immediate use. Any searching done by this user will appear in Libraries Australia usage reports against the new personal User-ID.

Creating Personal logins

Once an account has been set up to allow the creation of personal logins, anyone logging into the 'shared account' will see an option to 'create a personal account'. Selecting this option will enable the user to create their own login for immediate use, choosing their own user-id and password. Once you have created a personal login you will see a confirmation web screen and an email will be sent to you. In order for us to verify your personal login you will need to click on the link in the email within 48 hours. If you don't, your login will be deleted.

Choosing a Username

You will need to choose a username. Choose an alpha-numeric username which is a minimum of six-characters. If you choose a username that already exists, you will be prompted with suggestions for another username.

Choosing a Password

You will need to choose a password. Your password should be a minimum of six-characters in length and have at least one non-alpha character (eg. 8).

Secret Question

If you forget your password, you will be asked this secret question. Your secret answer will be used to identify your login and you will then be able to create a new password.

Forgotten your ...?
Forgotten Password

If you have forgotten your password, click on the forgotten password link on the login screen. You will then see your secret question and be asked to enter your secret answer. You will need to enter a new password and then click on continue.

If you have forgotten your secret answer, click the check box on the Forgotten Password screen which says "I've forgotten my secret answer. Please email me a link to reset my password". You will be emailed a link to reset your password.

Forgotten Username

If you have forgotten your username, you will need to create a new personal login. Click on "create a new account" at the login screen.

Selecting a Search Screen

Select the desired search screen (Easy Search, Advanced Search or Command Search) you wish to appear when you login.

Selecting Databases

Select the desired databases you wish to access at login and click on "save changes". This will display the selected databases on login.

Selecting My libraries

Select up to three libraries as "My Libraries" for searching purposes by clicking on "select library". Search for the library and then click on "select library". You can also change or remove the libraries from the "My Details" page.

Changing your Personalisation Details

If you wish to change any of your personalisation details, click on the "My Details" link in the top right hand corner. This will allow you to update your Personal Libraries Australia login.

Changing your Password

If you wish to change your password click on the "My Details" link in the top right hand corner. Then click on the "want to change your password" link; enter in both your current and new passwords and click save.
