Help - Didn’t Find What You Want?
Help - Index
If you did not find what you were looking for while searching Libraries Australia, please look at the helpful hints below:
- Check whether you made a spelling or typing mistake.
- Try alternative spellings (eg. Iain instead of Ian)
- Try using Browse Terms
- Try searching another database
- Try different forms of the word/s e.g. replace singular with plural and vice versa.
- If you found too few matches, try again with fewer words e.g. instead of 'effectiveness of the Repatriation Act 1917' put 'repatriation act 1917' or just 'repatriation act'.
- If you found too many matches, try adding a word e.g. 'primary school libraries' instead of 'school libraries'.
- Try different ways of expressing your subject e.g. instead of 'source of funds for health services' try 'health services funding'.
- Library catalogues list journals and newspapers but do not list the articles within them. If you are searching for journal articles, it is worth your while to go to the National Library of Australia’s homepage. At the top of the homepage you will find a link to E-Resources. Click on this link, choose a database in the subject area you are searching, connect to the relevant database and begin searching (access to some databases is restricted to users in our reading rooms).
- If you need help to find what you want, you can always contact your
local librarian. The National Library of Australia has an Ask Us page
which provides information on how to contact the Library by phone, fax
or online enquiry form and how you can chat online to a reference librarian.
