Help - Get This Item?

Help - Index

This page is designed to give you options to assist you to obtain an item, either by borrowing it from your library, from another library or by getting a copy of it from a library or library supplier. The options are available under four tabs and their associated links:

Online (tab available if there are online links for the item)

This tab displays links to digital objects and/or any online information about this item. (These links also appear on the Full Record View screen). You will not be able to access this tab If there are no online links to this item.

At Your Library (tab available if the item is held by your library)

"Your library" is the library that you are accessing Libraries Australia from, or if you logged in using a username and password, it is the library the this username and password belongs to.

The contact details of your library are displayed here. If your library has made its catalogue available to Libraries Australia, the availability of the item is also displayed in this tab. You should be able to see details like it's call number, coverage and availability (as held on the catalogue record for the item). The "Further information relating to this library" link on this screen will take you to the Australian Libraries Gateway (ALG), whilst the supply policy links you to the Australian ILRS directory.

At Other Libraries (tab available if the item is held by other libraries)

"Request a loan through your library" and "Request a copy through your library" options only display if the library who owns this user account specifies that they are to display. Use the first option if you wish to borrow the item from another library. Use the second option if you would like a copy of this item (or a part of the item). Eg An article from a journal. To save disappointment, please ensure you understand copyright conditions in relation to your request. If unsure, please speak to your local librarian. These options open loan and request form screens, that generate an Inter Library Loan. See your library staff if you believe you should have access to these options or you’d like information on the status of your request.

If another library holds the item, their holdings details will also display (third option) in order of state, ie libraries in your state first, followed alphabetically by the other states and territories in Australia. If you have access to another library that holds the item you have searched for, selecting the "About this library" button will open contact information and item availability, as for the "At Your Library" tab.
