Due to a large results set, the retrieval of results has taken too long and has timed out.

Narrow the search term so that the results set is smaller.

Unable to retrieve the selected record(s) due to a system error.  Permanent system error.

There is a system error within Libraries Australia.

Unable to search the database due to a system error. Error transforming UTF-16 encoded string to 8-bit ASCII: the source string contains a code point, '0x0142', that is greater than 0xFF and is therefore not a legal 8-bit ASCII character.

The user has entered a term that cannot be searched by a remote database (i.e.: a diacritic character eg. Stanisław)

Some of the remote databases are unable to read diacritic characters.

Select a remote database which is able to read diacritic characters or substitute another letter or combination of letters, e.g. œ use oe.

Unable to search the database due to a system error.  Illegal term value ‘:illegal term value for attribute’ for attribute

The user has entered a term that cannot be searched against a particular attribute by a remote database. (Eg. Including “the” in a Title search)

Check the terms that have been entered into the search box.

Try using an alternate search term.

Try using alternative spelling.

Unable to search the database due to a system error.  Query type not supported.

The database may not support a particular proximity symbol.  The proximity symbols can vary for each database.

Check the help manual to find the correct proximity symbols for each database.

Unable to search the database due to a system error.  Truncated words too short.

The truncated search terms entered are too short.  For example, a search term in CJK can be no shorter than 3 characters.

Enter the full search term.

Try truncating an alternate search term.

Unable to search the database due to a system error. Unable to connect to the remote host ‘rlg.Libraries Australia.nla.gov.au:210’: Connection refused

Libraries Australia cannot connect to a remote database, eg. RLG
